Are electrical engineers employed by BPCL?

Yokogawa receives from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. the order for a terminal automation system

Yokogawa India Ltd., a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation, receives from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) was awarded the contract for the delivery of a turnkey project worth 730 million rupees (approx. 9.7 million EUR) for the automation of truck loading terminals. Yokogawa India will provide the terminal automation system (TAS) Terminal Logistics Suite VPTM and the safety-related ProSafe®-RS controller for 11 BPCL truck loading terminals in northeast India.

The Terminal Logistics Suite VP is used to monitor and control the storage tanks, bridge cranes and other loading and unloading devices for all BPCL terminals. The system was specially developed for the various work processes involved in monitoring and controlling tank farms and loading and unloading devices. The Terminal Logistics Suite VP is the ideal solution for efficient quality management, inventory management and loading plan management at the company's distribution terminals for oil, fuels and chemicals.

Yokogawa India will have sole responsibility for the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of these systems at the 11 terminals. Engineering will be carried out by Yokogawa India's Bangalore office. The work will be carried out in cooperation with other companies in the global Yokogawa Group.

When automating the truck loading terminals, both the requirements of the BPCL for the use of the latest technology and those of the M.B. Lal Committee met security guidelines set out in a report. At the M.B. Lal Committee is an advisory group set up by the Indian government, which in 2010 issued a set of guidelines for dealing with safety problems in the oil and gas industry in India.

Yokogawa India was awarded the contract for this major project because the company is able to cover all of the M.B. Lal Committees to deliver required safety-related products, has a strong customer-centric approach and has a solid track record of providing high quality engineering, installation and commissioning services. Work on all 11 terminals should be completed by March 2016.

Tsutomu Murata, General Manager of Yokogawa India, said:

“The order that we received despite the toughest competition and strictest access restrictions is further confirmation of our increasing performance in the oil and gas sector, which we have also demonstrated in our most recent projects. We are confident that the BPCL will benefit greatly from the solutions implemented by Yokogawa India. ”

Strategically, Yokogawa is targeting the entire energy supply chain from upstream to downstream systems in the area of industrial control systems and as part of the medium-term business plan "Transformation 2017". Yokogawa has extensive experience implementing solutions for truck loading terminals and other facilities that serve as intermediate stations in moving oil and gas from production facilities to end users.
