Are self-taught web developers worth it?

Learning to Code Online - Is It Really That Easy?

Programming languages anyone can now easily learn online - that is definitely what BITKOM claims, which recently published tips on how to learn programming easily in an article. I've given myself a few thoughts and, to be honest, I'm not quite conclusive how to answer this question: Everyone can Become a developer in self-study? What do you all mean?

The most important requirement for success: ambition

Basically it is the same as with all things that we want to teach ourselves: If there is not enough will, the project will fail.

Anyone who has tried to be themselves play guitar to teach, knows what I mean: Without regular practice and the tendency to perfection, the average person will not be a second Jimi Hendrix.

I can play a few chords on the guitar and maybe use them to accompany a few songs, but that's about it. ;)

It is exactly the same with programming: If I am not with enough heart and soul approaching the matter, I will not get very far in this area either. in the Conversely But that also means: If I really get involved, I can achieve something! :)

A fairy tale from the USA: homeless person is learning to program

Almost too good to be true: The now known as "Journeyman“Well-known New York homeless Leo got an offer in August 2013 from 23-year-old programmer Patrick Conlogue. He could choose whether to $ 100 in cash wanted to have or one Laptop with three JavaScript books. The second option also included a one-hour lesson with Patrick every day. Leo decided to program, has now over 37,000 fans on Facebook and is about to release its first app.

A great story, even if it has often been questioned whether everything really turned out right here and whether the whole thing is not just a PR campaign for Patrick's agency. But in any case, the story gives courage to everyone who still believes in the good old "American Dream". ;)
